Rick Miller, property practice leader at Aon PLC, died on Tuesday after a short illness.
Boston-based Mr Miller, 62, had worked as an underwriter and broker and had always focused on the property sector.
Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, he graduated from Boston College and joined industrial risk insurers. He moved to Alexander & Alexander Inc. before returning to IRI to run the New York City office, which was later purchased by Aon.
He later worked at American International Group Inc. before rejoining Aon as Chief Broking Officer of National Assets in 2005. He was named Practice Leader in 2016 and has moderated Aon’s annual property symposium for the past 15 years.
Mr. Miller is well liked and respected by Aon and his colleagues in the industry, said Rob Stein, head of middle market, Commercial Risk North America, who worked with Mr. Miller at IRI and Aon and recognized him. Knew him for more than 30 years. Year.
“Everyone loved being around him. He was incredibly intelligent, he had a wealth of information, both good and bad,” he said. “It didn’t matter who you were, or what walk of life you came from, he treated everyone exactly the same and he took great pride in developing talent.”
