Mark Willis, a longtime executive at American International Group Inc., died Saturday.
Mr. Willis, 75, spent 37 years at the insurance company and retired in 2014 as president and executive vice president of AIG’s property/casualty division in the United States and Canada.
A well-known figure in the marketplace, Mr. Willis briefly played football for the Chicago Bears before beginning his insurance career.
He joined AIG in 1977 as an underwriter for the New Hampshire Insurance Company unit and in 1982 became branch manager of the Des Moines, Iowa office. Among other positions at the insurer, he was named head of its Central US Zone in 1995 and executive vice president in 2002.
In 2016, the Katy School of Insurance and Risk Management at Illinois State University inducted Mr. Willis into its Hall of Fame.
