JBG Smith (NYSE: JBGS) sees highly amenable collaborative spaces as key to driving office retention, and is investing $40 million in its National Landing development in Northern Virginia to double down on this strategy.
As part of recently announced plans, JBG Smith will transform 2011 Crystal Drive, an 11-floor 444,916-square-foot property, into a premier amenity-rich center designed to serve office tenants in its National Landing neighborhood. Construction is expected to begin in the next few months, with delivery expected in 2026.
The transformation will include a new, state-of-the-art conference and meeting facility that will have the capacity to accommodate up to 300 guests, making it one of the largest facilities in the area. 2011 Crystal Drive will also feature food and beverage options such as a grab and go market and cocktail bar. The building may also feature tenant signage for smaller tenants.
“Ultimately, we strongly believe that people come to work for others and to live and collaborate and create culture with their colleagues,” says Brian Cotter, executive vice president of leasing at JBG Smith. “The whole purpose of this intervention is to create collaborative spaces, whether it’s a large-scale meeting space or a place to grab coffee with your coworker or a cocktail after a long day of meetings.”
