Sean Kelley, a longtime excess and surplus lines industry executive, died Aug. 4 .
Mr. Kelly, 61, spent 34 years in the insurance industry and was most recently president of distribution for the global risk solutions division of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. He left the company in 2020.
According to his official obituary, Mr. Kelley joined American International Group Inc. in 1986 after graduating from the State University of New York at Oneonta.
He became chief operating officer of AIG’s Boston-based surplus lines unit, Lexington Insurance Co. In 2008, he joined Ironshore Inc., then a new E&S insurer headed by his longtime colleague Kevin Kelly, where he became CEO of its U.S. operations.
Liberty Mutual purchased Ironshore in 2017.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Lisa, and three children.
